Guest Teacher at ADPI

Last afternoon we had a guest artist for MT dance and Jazz class. Please welcome Sarah Bakker to ADPI!!!

Born and raised in Brisbane, Australia, Sarah trained in all styles of dance from the tender age of three and voice from nine years of age.

Sarah’s first senior role saw her travel to Singapore to join the Corps De Ballet in The Phantom of the Opera. After a successful spell with the company she was then asked to understudy Christine Daae in the Australian National tour, which she did for a further two years.

Sarah’s next role showcased her diversity when she was offered the role of Annie in Chicago, where Sarah also covered the role of Roxie Hart.

Following Chicago, she was then asked to join the Australian tour of Mary Poppins, as part of the ensemble and as Mary Poppins alternate. It was this very role that led to Sarah realizing her dream when she was given the opportunity to perform on Broadway as Mary Poppins Understudy making her Broadway Debut on the 9th of October 2012. And as of April 8th 2013 she took on the role of Christine Understudy/ Ensemble in The Phantom of the Opera on Broadway.

Now having moved to the UK, Sarah has performed in Evita at the Ljublijana Festival in Slovenija for Brownowski and Tarento Productions based in London.

A highlight of 2015 was playing the role of Young Heidi in Follies in Concert at the renowned Royal Albert Hall in London.

Sarah has participated in the creation of a brand new musical called Mrs Henderson Presents as Ensemble/ Dance Captain and understudy Peggy. After a succesful run in Bath it hit the big time, opening at the Noel Coward theatre in Londons West End in February 2016.

Most recently Sarah has been performing in the hit show An American in Paris at the Dominion Theatre which opened to rave reviews on the 21st of March 2017 on Londons West End, as ensemble and understudy to the role of Milo Davenport
