In an outstanding evening of entertainment at the Sydney Opera House, and the culmination of the Sydney Eisteddfod, ADPI were announced the Winners of the Jazz Finals. This is the first time this event has been won by a Queensland Studio, at least in the last 16 years of checking, and is a tribute to both our hardworking, talented and dedicated students and the choreographic genius of our Head of Jazz, Michael Edge. It was a great night for Queensland in general with Le Corsaire Pas de deux performed by invited guests, ex Queenslanders, and past winner Claudia Dean and finalist Aaron Smyth resulting in a standing ovation. Courtney Macmillan, also a Queenslander, won the MacDonald's Senior Ballet Scholarship. The entire evening was dedicated to our revered staff member Mr Harold Collins MBE who, it was announced to a shocked audience, had passed away the previous day. It was a fitting tribute to Mr Collins who devoted his entire professional life to dance as a Performer, Artistic Director, past Scholarship Adjudicator, and finally as a Teacher and Mentor. He will be remembered by all those whose lives he touched.
